WBAI Radio Show on Health Care Reform, Women, and Repro Rights!

On Thursday, October 1 @ 11 AM: Joy of Resistance presents "Is the Obama healthcare plan a step forward--or backward--for women?"

Guests will include: Eleanor Smeal, President of the Feminist Majority Foundation; Stephanie Poggi, Executive Director of the National Network of Abortion Funds; Emily Douglas, Web Editor for The Nation Magazine; Loretta Ross, National Coordinator of SisterSong, a Woman of Color Reproductive Health Collective; and Allison Guttu, Vice Chair, New York Women's Liberation. Hosts: Fran Luck & Maretta Short.

As the battle over abortion and healthcare reform heats up in Congress--and is featured on today's (Sept. 29) New York Times front page--Joy of Resistance: Multicultural Feminist Radio @ WBAI will host a show on Thursday, October 1, @ 11 am, featuring a panel of feminist leaders and experts who will try to illuminate the truth of what is going on and may even drop a bombshell or two into the fray!

We will examine: What is in Obama's plan that will benefit women? Does the Hyde Amendment actually preclude any public funding for abortion? Is Single Payer really dead? How and why were women's rights under Roe v Wade traded away in Obama's 'Public Option'? What will be the effects on real women's lives? and: What does all that gobbledegook Insurance-ese language really mean?

Joy of Resistance is WBAI's only dedicated feminist program, bringing you coverage of the ongoing worldwide struggle for women's full social equality; it airs on the first Thursday of every month at 11 am. You can reach us at (212) 209-2987, or email us at joyofresistance@wbai.org. This program can be streamed live by going to www.wbai.org and can be heard on the WBAI archives for 90 days.
