THE POCKETBOOK MONOLOGUES PREMIERES IN NEW YORK ON JUNE 28TH!
THE POCKETBOOK MONOLOGUES PREMIERES IN NEW YORK ON JUNE 28TH!
A fun, provocative, and entertaining dialogue with an award winning cast - creator Sharon McGhee, actress Kim Coles, media personality Jacque Reid, the remarkable Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, Toni Belafonte, and Sandy Daley. These ladies are raising the curtain to talk about the POCKETBOOK, the label black women affectionately describe as the triangle between their thighs.
The Pocketbook Monologues reveal a collection of heartfelt emotions about sexuality, intimacy, and responsibility. This on stage expression of stories from women of color was inspired by the Vagina Monologues. It's performed in a stirring style from the Black female perspective, and includes a tender view of the Coin Purses too. The New York Coin Purse cast features Harlem's own incomparable, Taylor Jenkins-Thompson.
The show enters 'stage-right' with real stories and a 'keeping it real' chance to advance Sharon's mission of greater dialogue about health issues impacting African-American women and girls, particularly HIV/AIDS awareness.
The inaugural "Pocketbook Honors" ceremony will celebrate New York/New Jersey leaders in the grassroots and community movement--Rev. Lynda T. Rassman, Rev. Stanley Justice, and Ms. Maxine Frere. June 28th. Don't miss it!
